i am art & the artist circuit youth arts education (School Year)
i am art and the artist circuit is a combined effort of local Utah artists and arts activists to provide free, world class, art opportunities for high school age students. It will augment the schools fine arts program with professional instruction and real-world opportunity in an innovative and comprehensive education system. This joint effort is currently being finalized and will commence in the Salt Lake City area, in 2012 and will go the duration of the school year.
Youth Arts Education (Summer Camp)
This program offers after school and summer art classes to children ages 5-17 at the UAA Salt Lake City Arts Hub. Programs include, visual arts and dance. We provide scholarships on a needs basis and serve over 65 children annually through this program.
Connect
This monthly event, held at the UAA Salt Lake City Arts Hub, grew from a need among artists to connect with other artists and the greater community. Connect gives artists the opportunity to showcase their works in a casual setting while building community and synergy with other artists. Every event is given a theme (painting, photography, etc.) and a professional in that field gives a short talk and Q & A session during the event. Artists in all mediums (of the fine arts) are invited to bring up to three pieces to show. Attendees vote on their favorite artwork. The top three artists of the year are awarded grants from the UAA. The events are free and open to the public.
UAA Urban Arts Festival
The first annual Urban Arts Festival took place on Saturday, May 21st 2011 on Pierpont Avenue (between 300 west and 400 west). The festival celebrates urban artistic culture and features live music and dance, skateboarding demonstrations, a skateboard deck art contest and great food. The festival had over 50 booths showcasing artists and community non-profit groups.
